Março de 1453. O exército do sultão turco Mehmet II sitia Constantinopla. Protegido pelas enormes muralhas da cidade, o imperador Constantino XI Paleólogo recebe um pedido inusitado de uma comitiva secreta: entregar ao sultão o lendário Véu de Verônica. Segundo a tradição cristã, com este tecido, Santa Verônica secou o sangue de Jesus Cristo no momento em que carregava sua cruz rumo ao Calvário, e nele, a verdadeira face do Salvador dos cristãos teria ficado gravada. Agoniado, o imperador apela em segredo à Ordem de São Marcos para auxiliá-lo. Após anos de trabalho monótono, o estudioso e dedicado integrante da Ordem de São Marcos, Miguel Acropolita, recebe sua missão mais importante: encontrar a relíquia e trazê-la ao imperador. Sem perder tempo, embarca para a Terra Santa, onde irá procurar pelo paradeiro do objeto. Em seu caminho, terá que lidar com as autoridades locais, com o govergo mameluco, com um cavaleiro da Ordem do Santo Sepulcro e com o Custódio da Terra Santa. Neste romance histórico, realizado com o apoio de pesquisas sobre o ambiente da época, o autor se propõe a descrever os edifícios e locais sagrados para os cristãos, bem como explorar cenários e personagens, inserindo completamente o leitor em um ambiente de suspense situado no passado.
March 1453. Turkish Sultan Mehmet II's army besieged Constantinople. Protected by the huge city walls, the Emperor Constantine XI Palaiologos receives an unusual request from a secret entourage: to deliver the legendary Veil of Veronica to the Sultan. According to Christian tradition, with this cloth, Saint Veronica dried the blood of Jesus Christ at the moment he carried his cross towards Calvary, and in it, the true face of the Savior of the Christians would have been engraved. Annoyed, the emperor secretly appeals to the Order of Saint Mark to help him. After years of monotonous work, the studious and dedicated member of the Order of Saint Mark, Miguel Acropolita, receives his most important mission: to find the relic and bring it to the emperor. Without wasting time, he embarks for the Holy Land, where he will search for the object's whereabouts. On his way, he will have to deal with the local authorities, the Mamluk government, a knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher and the Custos of the Holy Land. In this historical novel, carried out with the support of research on the environment of the time, the author proposes to describe the buildings and places sacred to Christians, as well as to explore scenarios and characters, completely immersing the reader in an environment of suspense set in the past. .
